The Amsterdam based fashion label, creates rain ponchos made from recycled polyester. This is very different from virgin polyester.ÌýUnlike polyester that uses petrochemical products, loads of water and contains toxic ingredients, recycled polyester uses PET (bottles) as raw material. Moreover, all those bottles are recycled and Ìýdon’t end up on landfills or in our oceans.

The bottles are flaked, heated, machine shrunk and then wound up in spools for making it into fabric.ÌýThis process uses up toÌý40% less energy... but the bigger differences here are that no new petroleum is needed, and that we don’t contaminate our environment with even more plastic bottles.

The fabric can be recycled again and again without compromising quality. That means RAINKISS rain ponchos could be a closed loop system.
